STP Polymer High-Performance Solution in the U.S. Adhesive Market

STP Polymer High-Performance Solution in the U.S. Adhesive Market

2026-07-08

Market Background

Environmental requirements in the U.S. adhesive market are encouraging manufacturers to review existing product portfolio and explore new formulation approaches. In building and home decoration applications, polyurethane (PU) adhesives have long been used for their established bonding performance. At the same time, manufacturers are looking at other polymer technologies that can meet evolving environmental requirements while maintaining the performance expected from construction adhesives.

Against this background, U.S. adhesive manufacturers began developing some new grades for building and home decoration applications. The project focused on STP polymer that could provide the required performance while offering an alternative to conventional PU-based formulations.

Customer and Application

The customer develops adhesive products for building and interior decoration applications. For the new product, the customer wanted to maintain the practical characteristics expected from a construction adhesive while introducing a different polymer technology.

The main requirements included reliable bonding, suitable application properties and sufficient formulation flexibility to develop a product for the U.S. market without compromising the performance expected in its target applications.

RISUN's Solution

RISUN provided an STP polymer as the polymer base for the customer's formulation development. The polymer provided a suitable foundation for formulation development, allowing the customer to balance bonding performance, flexibility, curing behavior and application characteristics according to the requirements of its building and home decoration applications.

Customer Feedback

During co-development, the customer obtain the desired products that the STP-based formulation could provide the performance required for its target applications while offering an alternative route to conventional PU adhesives.

The customer was able to continue developing the product around familiar construction adhesive requirements while better using STP polymer technology into the product portfolio.

Conclusion

As U.S. adhesive manufacturers respond to changing environmental requirements, alternative polymer technologies are becoming part of new product development. In this project, RISUN STP polymer provided a foundation for developing a building adhesive with the performance required by the customer, while giving the manufacturer an alternative approach to conventional PU-based products.
